FUEL Releases New Single "Want It" + Announces New Album 'Pendulum'
Half a decade after the release of their latest album, 2021's Anomaly, the legendary alternative post-grunge outfit FUEL have returned with the release of their latest single, "Want It." This is also the first taste of their upcoming seventh full-length album Pendulum, releasing October 3o via Moon Chair Media, lead guitarist and founding member Carl Bell's record label.
"Want It" has been teased on the road for a couple years, with FUEL adding it to their live setlist as early as the spring of 2024, receiving a positive reception from fans in attendance. Musically, it's one of the heavier songs in FUEL's discography, featuring uproarious guitars and thunderous drums, making for a triumphant and radio-ready studio return from the band.
Lyrically, "Want It" focuses on themes of perseverance and the ongoing pursuit of leveling up, something that FUEL has experienced firsthand over the course of their 33-year career. From lineup changes to long gaps between studio releases, FUEL has been through a lot as a band, yet the lineup today is in a strong place thanks to their unwillingness to pack it up and call it a day.
The single marks the beginning of a new chapter for the band — this is the first material featuring new vocalist Aaron Scott, who made waves on season 19 of NBC's competition show The Voice, featuring a memorable performance of Fuel's hit "Hemmorhage (In My Hands)." Additionally, "Want It" was the first song that Scott brought to the attention of his new bandmates when he joined FUEL in 2022.
Scott's contributions to the songwriting, including bringing the concept of "Want It" into the fold, reignited the creative energy within the band, leading to the creation of the upcoming Pendulum album and fueling an exciting reintroduction to one of the most emblematic groups of the post-grunge era. The band has released a lyric video promoting the single release, which can be viewed below.
FUEL is currently on the road, performing across the US this summer and fall, starting July 11 in Grantville, PA and concluding in Green Bay, WI on December 12. For all tour dates and to buy tickets, click here.
